Gold rings, silk ties and mustaches....

If you guessed the 80's, you just won a chance to be entered to possibly win a chance to be entered to win something.

Another great film from Soderbergh.

Retouching...

It's all I've been doing for the last 5 days. I guess this is what happens when you agree to shoot almost 200 images and retouch them all in a weeks time. I guess it could be worse....

Ads - How they should be

If more advertisers were more accepting of cool ideas like this, it would make all our lives easier.

To freelance. That is the question.

With the economy like it is and people losing jobs like they are, it seems like more and more people in the ad world (and beyond for that matter) are being forced into a situation they may have never considered before. Freelance work.

In less than terrible economic times, only the elite make the cut and survive to bid for the next project. And for that matter, there are fewer guys out there in the first place because most are manning a desk at Name, Name and Name. Today, however, with clients drastically cutting budgets and agencies cutting staffing, the market is saturated with low-cost freelancers. Simple economics tells us that with a saturated marketplace comes competition. And that brings along a slew of different tactics for landing the job. But in today's economy, the demand for low-price, nimble, completely capable, 1-2 man operations is on the rise. Clients want someone who can execute they're plan quickly and cheaply. And what better way to do that than hiring someone they know can do the work and for 20% of what their agency would charge. There's something to be said for not having any overhead. I mean, is the work THAT much better? Something to think about...

So if you're thinking of making the leap from agency to freelance, now could be your time. If nothing else, it allows for lots of blog writing time....Cheers!

Great Expectations

The greatest children's story of all time AND an entire soundtrack recorded by Arcade Fire. Give me a break.

In all seriousness, Fire's ominous sound seems to fit nicely with the otherworldly story that's sure to unfold. Looking forward to this one.
